However, when deep cavities, fractures, or traumatic injuries seriously affect the tooth, the pulp can become infected or inflamed, causing acute and constant pain.
The Endodontic Procedure
The endodontic procedure, commonly known as "root canal treatment," involves removing the damaged or infected pulp and thoroughly cleaning the root canal. Once the canal is clean, it is sealed and filled with a special material to prevent future infections. Finally, a dental restoration, such as a crown, is placed to protect the treated tooth and restore its functionality.
